Broadway Lunch (Schenectady, NY)

This weekend was a whirlwind of errands, and a quick stop into Schenectady to try a famous hot dog.

The chili dog with so many names (you can’t tell, but I’m holding back on my rant about that). I decided to try one, along with large orders of french fries and their home made onion rings.

“Are you sure you want a large?” our waitress asked. “Because they’re pretty big."

Maybe we should have listened, because it turned out to be a bit too much food. The onion rings were not what I imagined they would be – thin, crunchy, and the onions were surprisingly sweet. It would have been nice if there was a dipping sauce to go along with them. We took home what we couldn’t finish, and after being reheated, they didn’t taste well. Thank goodness for hot sauce.

As for their specialty, it was okay. It might just be the chili that tastes… different. Maybe it’s just me, and I’m not a chili dog/Coney/insert other regional name fan. If we ever go back there, I’d try it again, only with other toppings.

Not to be left out, a shot of M’s meal – eggs, toast, and hash browns. Finally, a diner around here that serves their breakfast potatoes shredded and not diced (although I do think they serve it that way as well).

Not too bad for dinner.
